APISA is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organization. It is also a legally constituted entity and is hence subject to the provisions of its Constitution which guides policymaking and safeguards the interests of its members.
The general meeting of the members of the Association is convened as the Congress. It is the highest policymaking institution. The Congress is also the grandest academic event within APISA and is organized every two years on a rotational basis in the sub-regions of Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia.
In between the Congress sessions, policymaking is tasked to an Executive Committee whose composition reflects the diverse interests of Asia and which meets at least once a year.
The daily administration and coordination of APISA is undertaken by the Executive Secretary.
